The CEO of Express Scripts has some valid points to assist in controlling drug costs. Bringing competitive drugs to the market certainly will help. This is especially important with Bio-similars for the high cost biological drugs. They represent a small percentage of prescriptions dispensed but a large percentage of the overall spending for drugs. Legislation is needed in many states to interchange these similar to how we treat generic drugs.

I disagree in his remarks regarding coupons and patient assistance programs. In my opinion, they provide financial assistance to the patient that is desperately needed today.
